Our 2026 election mental health policy toolkit
Share:

As the 2026 general election draws nearer, political parties will be refining their positions on the issues New Zealanders care about most.

Mental health will always be one of these issues. It’s a complex topic with widespread impact.

This election policy toolkit outlines mental health policies that really work, and recommends 15 tangible actions MPs and political parties can take to deliver meaningful outcomes for their constituents.

We’ve developed this toolkit because while there are no simple fixes or one-size-fits-all mental health policy solutions, there are clear, evidence-based approaches that deliver results for all.

The Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand is proud to be politically neutral. We do not hold biases or preferences towards any political party.
