Restoring safe spaces

Downloadable Only

Description:

Young people need support and guidance to build and maintain safe social media spaces.

When their personal social media becomes unsafe, it’s up to us as the adults who love and care for them to support them to rebuild their sense of safety.

This resource provide advice to caregivers when creating and maintaining safe spaces for young people. By having meaningful, ongoing kōrero (conversations) with our young people, we can work with them to restore their social media spaces and stay safe and well online.

These resources are part of the Navigating Social Media Safely series, and were commissioned by the Suicide Prevention Office, within the Ministry of Health, with Alight and Social Good. Expertise and experience from rangatahi, suicide prevention sector, matauranga māori, researchers and lived experience helped shaped these resources.
