Rugby, concussion & anxiety

Tom shares how fear, pressure, and the endless “what ifs” inside his head nearly broke him - and how meditation, yoga, and learning to live in the present brought him back

When he was just a young boy in Northland, Tom Robinson dreamed of becoming an All Black. He chased that dream with everything he had - becoming captain of the Blues and one of the most recognisable players in New Zealand rugby. But behind the big tackles and bigger smile, Tom was fighting a secret battle.

In this powerful episode of the Mental Health Foundation's Moments that Matter podcast series, Tom shares how fear, pressure, and the endless “what ifs” inside his head nearly broke him - and how meditation, yoga, and learning to live in the present brought him back.

If you’ve ever struggled with anxiety, fear of judgment, or pressure to perform, this conversation will stay with you.
