As one of Aotearoa’s most inspiring athletes, Mea reminds us that no matter how dark life gets, there’s always a way forward

Mea has overcome a lot – including years of domestic violence that almost cost her everything.

But she discovered an unlikely outlet: boxing. Through sport, Mea rebuilt her identity, and reclaimed her freedom.

In this episode of the Mental Health Foundation's Moments that Matter podcast series, Mea sits down with Jehan Casinader to share her journey of courage. She explains what it truly means to be an “overcomer”, and how her children and coach helped to save her life.

As one of Aotearoa’s most inspiring athletes, Mea reminds us that no matter how dark life gets, there’s always a way forward.
