The Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand (MHF) is a not-for-profit organisation that works towards creating a society free from discrimination, where all people enjoy positive mental health & wellbeing.

We have a strong team who coordinate all the independent fundraisers people might run for us - like running a marathon, raising money through an event, or participating in national campaigns. Thousands of people across NZ fundraise for the MHF, and we need someone to help us support their efforts by building a relationship over the phone! This role will suit someone who is happy and willing to talk on the phone with strangers.

Your role will enable our fundraisers to feel valued, supported, and heard. The work you do will help our fundraising team to share with people how they’re helping to improve the positive mental health and wellbeing of all New Zealanders.

If you chose this role, your day might look like this:

  • You arrive and jump into a briefing session with the team for 15 minutes.
  • You find a room and call fundraisers! Log calling notes and call outcomes.
  • Debrief with available team members.

You might also be doing data entry and occasional postage as required.

We expect it will take between 3-5 hours per week, which you can do in a morning slot or afternoon slot. Monday's are ideal but if you prefer another day of the week let us know! We are looking for someone who can commit for at least a few months, so that you are able to get the most out of the experience.

In return, you will be welcomed into the MHF, learn more about the work we do, get some experience on your CV, and get to meet some of our amazing fundraisers for some warm fuzzies. We also have a volunteer gift box with a t-shirt, keep cup, mindfulness diary, and plenty of other swag to give to you. Our office is large, sunny, and lively, and we have plenty of team bonding activities like weekly lunchtime walks, shared lunches, competitions and social events.

If you have experience or interest in admin support, customer service, fundraising, call centres, or you want to spend a few hours each week making a real impact, this is the role for you!

We value the expertise of people with experience of mental distress or illness - or tāngata whai ora - and  rainbow and takatāpui candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply. The Mental Health Foundation actively promotes the articles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Please apply with a CV and a short letter explaining why you are interested in this role to humanresources@mentalhealth.org.nz
