Join our team as a Health Promoter!
This role sits within the Nōku Te Ao Programme team, a small, motivated and engaged group dedicated to reducing stigma and discrimination against those experiencing mental distress.
This role will support this kaupapa by managing the Social Actions Grants process, working closely with stakeholders to design, promote and facilitate the grants, as well as provide advice to grantees, and coordinate the advisory panel. This role will suit someone who has experience setting up and managing a project plan, including a budget, risk mitigation measures, clear time frames and an evaluation framework.
We are looking for a Health Promoter who is empathetic, proactive, resourceful and a strong communicator. We are seeking someone with a deep understanding of Pasifika communities and cultures, as this role involves working closely with these groups.
What you will do
- Administrate, promote, and process the Nōku te Ao Social Action Grants, giving advice and support to applicants and the advisory panel
- Build and maintain connections with Māori, Pasifika, Asian and rainbow communities and organisations
- Contribute to report writing and communications to government and other stakeholders.
- Provide general coordination and administrative support for Nōku te Ao events and activities
- Incorporate Pasifika perspectives into Nōku te Ao, maintaining relationships with relevant organisations
- Proactively identify and raise risks, recommend solutions, contribute to problem solving, and collaboratively work to resolve issues as they arise

You will have
- Qualified and/or practical experience in public health, mental health, or health promotion
- Passion for systemic change in mental health services and/or experience in relationship management within the mental health sector.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Skill in administration, project planning, and budget management
- Collaborative nature with strong networking and relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies and cultural groups.
- Cultural capital or lived experience relevant to the subject matter
- Understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and its implications for New Zealand’s response to improving mental wellbeing, or a willingness to extend knowledge of Te Ao Māori and Te Reo Māori.
- Willingness and ability to travel nationally.

The salary band for this role is $65,000 - 72,000 and will be commensurate with the successful candidate's skills and experience.
