Rochelle Stewart-Withers
Rochelle is an academic at Massey University in the School of People, Environment and Planning: Development Studies. The focus of her teaching and research looks to understand and analyse/critique processes that are transforming people’s lives around the world, with a particular focus on the world’s poorer countries.

Rochelle comes to the Foundation board with a prior background in nursing (psychiatric/mental health) where she held a number of clinical, leadership and teaching roles, both within the clinical setting and academia. Rochelle has a keen interest in cultural understanding of mental wellbeing, and the importance of social justice, noting that issues such as poverty, inequality, discrimination all need to be addressed if people as individuals and communities are to flourish.

On a personal note, Rochelle and her partner Pete Henman have a very busy household with their five children, Indiya, Finn, Samara, Cassius and India.
