Whakanui Whaiora - Lived Experience Gathering

Nōku te Ao is a public awareness programme that aims to increase social inclusion and end discrimination towards people with experience of mental illness or distress. We do this through public awareness campaigns, community projects and research.

Whakanui Whairoa is the te reo Māori translation for ‘uplift our people’.
Tāngata whaiora ’ means a person seeking wellness, usually in reference to our lived experience community.

This event is bought to you by Nōku te Ao in conjunction with members from the Mental Health Foundation and Hāpai Te Hauora. You will be warmly greeted by kaimahi/staff involved in the kaupapa/programme.

If you have lived experience of mental distress and live in Tāmaki Makaurau, we’d love to have you join us. The invite is open to anyone who shares our momoeā/vision of a nation where all people uphold the mana and human rights of people with experience of mental distress.

Just bring an open mind, ready to whakawhanaunga/connect and learn. Lunch will be provided.

We have sourced an amazing spread of taco's for lunch through the Catering Station with warm soft-shell tacos, delicious fried or slow-cooked proteins, and a range of toppings. Please let us know if you have any specific dietary needs upon checking out and ordering your tickets.
