Tū pakari, tū taha. Ko te kotahitanga o tō tātou kaupapa. Nōku te Ao.
Stand proud. Stand alongside. We are united by our purpose. This is my world.

Are you a senior communications and marketing professional with a heart for social justice and making a difference, with a willingness to work as part of a team? The Mental Health Foundation wants to hear from you.

We’re looking for a communications and marketing project lead to join our team to work on Nōku Te Ao: Like Minds, a national programme committed to ending the prejudice and discrimination faced by people who live with mental distress or illness.

This is a special role on a unique programme that was the first of its kind in the world. It’s your chance to work on a social movement that aims to increase social inclusion, promote human rights and diversity and give the microphone to people with lived experience of mental distress as we co-design a movement with them, for them and by them.

You’ll need to not only be a comms and marketing superstar, with the usual outstanding skills in writing, editing, proof-reading, creativity, problem-solving, data-analysis, project management and attention to detail, but you’ll also need to be flexible, motivated, supportive, empathetic, understanding and committed to our cause.

In return, we’re offering a fulfilling, challenging and rewarding career working alongside a dynamic, experienced and supportive team on a programme that aims to change Aotearoa for good.

Nōku te Ao: Like Minds is embedded in kaupapa Māori, and its priority audiences are Māori and Pasifika with lived experience of mental distress. The successful candidate for this role will be someone who understands these audiences and has experience working with them authentically, respectfully and successfully.

You will:

  •  Have at least five years’ experience in a communications or marketing role
  • Be an experienced project manager, with a proven track record of strong results, high audience engagement and excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Be a phenomenal writer, editor, interviewer and proof-reader
  • Have knowledge of Te Ao Māori and Te Reo Māori (or a desire to grow and extend your existing knowledge)
  • Have experience working with and understanding of Māori and/or Pasifika communities and/or people with lived experience of mental distress
  • Be experienced in using social media to motivate and inspire
  • Have strong relationship management skills

If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
